The Water is Fine in Ft. Lauderdale!

Ft. Lauderdale is the nation’s mecca for year-round water sports! Perhaps that’s one of the reasons that the International Swimming Hall of Fame (which honors champions in diving, water polo and synchronized swimming, too) is located here in town.

Wild and wet fun begins at Yacht Haven, where guests can enjoy our sparkling new swimming pool or venture out into the scenic New River on our 35’ Special Edition Statement Center Console.  We also rent kayaks and paddleboards, launched right here onsite.  And for maritime a-fish-ionados (get it?), we can arrange charter fishing excursions out in the open waters of the Atlantic.

But there’s so much more for water-loving adventurers of all ages here in Ft. Lauderdale. Below are some of the exciting activities visitors can enjoy year-round and some of the top companies that provide them:

Jet Skis and Waverunners

Jet-skiing is one of the most popular, exciting watersports you can do in South Florida.  Experience the view of million-dollar homes from the Intracoastal – you may even see a manatee, too. Or head out to the ocean from Pompano a fun and exhilarating ride.

Everglades Boat Tours

Feel the excitement and learn the history of Florida’s most remarkable treasure–the Everglades — as you skim in an airboat across the glassy (and grassy!) waters. Keep your eyes peeled for gators as you cruise through the unbridled wild beauty of the Florida Everglades.

Parasailing

Located at the famous Bahia Mar in the heart of Fort Lauderdale Beach, this parasailing adventure will take you hundreds of feet in the air above the pristine waters of the Atlantic and beautiful sights of South Florida! Enjoy the panoramic view as you lift off, glide and gently touch down on the shore.

Snorkeling and Scuba Diving

The pristine waters and colorful coral reefs around Fort Lauderdale are a prime spot for snorkeling and scuba diving. Enjoy the best of both worlds with a fun SEABOB excursion, which is like an underwater jet ski. Dive up to depths of eight feet, zip along the reefs holding on to the jet-propelled SEABOB, and look out for exotic fish and sea life.

Sportfishing Charters

Book individual or group outings – with or without the kids – on the Lady Pamela II. The party boat, which takes up to 60 people, trolls the nearshore waters of Fort Lauderdale for snapper, grouper, king mackerel and other game species. Or for more serious anglers, take a private sportfishing charter to battle big game fish such as mahi, king mackerel, sailfish, wahoo, tuna, sharks and more

Sailing

Spend time on the water and sail along the coast of Fort Lauderdale on this private sailboat trip. This personalized excursion is ideal for travelers looking for a luxurious alternative to crowded large group boat tours. Enjoy a tour that puts the power of itinerary planning in your hands—choose to sail in the Atlantic Ocean, or travel down Fort Lauderdale New River.

Water Parks

Take the whole family for a fun-filled day of splashing and sliding at Tigertail Lake Recreational Center (try their new Aquaglide water obstacle course),  Rapids Water Park (the area’s largest water park with a mind-boggling array of slides and rapids), or Coconut Cove Waterpark (for it’s 4-story slides and lazy river).
